Issue: Dust generated from crushing and screening operation
Solutions: Fixed Line fogging system to knock out dust at each transfer point
Product Used: Fixed Line 15LPM fogging system
Project Overview:
A leading operator in the recycling sector south of Sydney was experiencing persistent dust emission issues during its crushing and screening operations. Traditional dust suppression methods used on-site resulted in excessive water application, which caused conveyor belt blockages/ slippages, operational downtime, and increased maintenance requirements.
Under growing pressure from the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to improve environmental performance, biOx were approached to provide a targeted and reliable dust control system that would eliminate these inefficiencies without introducing new problems.
biOx Solution:
A low volume, high pressure fogging system was implemented to target dust at various points in the process. Header lines conveyed high pressure water to various locations of the plant, and nozzles introduced to contain dust at source.
Key Elements of the Setup:
- Design a high-pressure fixed-line fogging system
- Custom-fit the system directly to crushers and conveyor belts
- Target airborne dust at its point of generation
- Minimise water use while maintaining consistent suppression
- The system was delivered, installed, and commissioned on time.
Results:
The customer was very happy with the system that was delivered, installed and commissioned on time. The nozzles performed well, and only minor adjustments to the nozzle angle or weight of the nozzle output based on feedback from operators. biOx were approached to provide a similar solution for another part of the facility operation.
Ongoing Support:
Following the successful trial, the client committed to a long-term hire before purchasing a complete system.
